Using the traditional Otani-yaki “Nerokuro” technique, we continue to create large ceramic works such as indigo-dyeing jars and lotus basins. As a kiln rooted in Tokushima, we also produce pieces that incorporate the region’s proud tradition of indigo dyeing. Tokushima is the birthplace of Sukumo, the natural indigo dye material, and its indigo, known as Awa-ai, is highly valued for its exceptional quality, distinguishing it from that of other regions.

Our “Ai - indigo -” series is designed to evoke the deep hues of Tokushima indigo through carefully blended glazes. Moreover, the glaze incorporates ash reused from the indigo-dyeing process, truly embodying a fusion of dyeing and pottery.

We invite you to experience firsthand the unique beauty of indigo, expressed in a way that only a Tokushima kiln can convey.
